2021 Holiday Food Drive
A letter of thanks from Norma Baynard, Holiday Food Drive Organizer:
Thank you, Unity of Tampa!
Due to your tremendous generosity we were able to feed four families this Thanksgiving holiday.
We provided meals for four families with a total of 25 people. Originally we had hoped to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for Thanksgiving Day for each of the families. However, we received an abundance of food staples and cash donations that more than exceeded our expectations. As a result, we were able to feed each family for up to 10 days! With the cash, we purchased perishable items (milk, cheese, butter, eggs, bacon) and fresh vegetables (green beans, collard greens onions, and potatoes), snacks, juices and desserts.
A hearty gobble, gobble goes out to Sean Lee for his donation of turkeys. Susan Scaglione, Rob Scherer and his daughter Murphy helped with the sorting process for our first delivery.
Michelle George kept us hydrated and fed while we sorted. Vivian Mirk helped organize and categorize the items donated and helped deliver to the first family on Sunday, after church.
A special “thank you” goes to Gail Gibson. Gail and I sorted, boxed and delivered the rest of the donations to three families on Monday. It was quite an honor to deliver all of the donations on behalf of Unity to the families. I am awed by the unlimited generosity and enthusiasm of our church family. I am so proud to be a part of such a caring and loving community.
Peace.
